Holy week is here – one of my favorite weeks of the year. It is the annual observance commemorating Jesus’ last week on earth and the events leading up to his resurrection on Easter Sunday (Calendarpedia) It is the most important festival of the Christian church. It’s the time for us Christians to retreat, fast and repent for the wrong things we had done.
Aside from its sacredness, it’s also the best time to bond, play, and be with your family.
In my childhood days, it’s been our family reunion. It’s our family bonding moment – we eat, laugh, sing, and play game together. My brothers play violin (the one that my brother made) while us, girls including my mom play guitar and we sing together. Our dad arranges everything; he wants us all to be present! Now he’s gone – life change! Those moments change, and really missed it. We had grown up and had families of our own.
My dad’s now gone, but his words and teachings resonate well in me. I respect and love him so much. Even if he’s busy with work, he always finds time to be with us on special occasions like birthdays, graduation, meetings, etc.
Our dad value relationship and family so much. I want to adapt the way he raise us and pass it on to my own kids and my grandkids. I want my boys to love and protect each other even if we’re gone. I want to raise them with respect – for their moms and dad and the community they belong. I want them to grow up achieving the passion, the purpose and the potential they were created to do.
Enough for that intro, now it’s time to share what are the activities that we’re going to do this Holy week.
1. It’s Church Day, Time for the LORD
I value Church Day and I want my kids to value it as well. Going to church must not just for Easter but to every Sundays of the year as well. As the Bible says, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God – Romans 10:11. The Bible made an impact in my life. I feel grounded in doing the wrong things, my conscience made me feel so. Of course, no one is perfect. The Bible’s only our reminder and our daily guide. It’s still our choices and decisions that run our lives.
2. Go Swimming
My kids love swimming. They’re always the first and last to get out of water. I enjoy it too; it’s the only sports I never tired of doing. I never want to end this summer without them go swimming. I want them to enjoy and rock!
Here are my top picks: They’re affordable and Clean – Good for family bonding

3. Bonding time at the Park
We go biking, horseback riding and play with my kids. While my kids were young, I want to stay and play with them because time flies fast. I knew that when they reach adolescence, they prefer bonding with their friends than with their parents. I want to cherish the moments where the only cure for their tantrums are my hugs and kisses with lollipops.
4. Go Shopping
SM Mall is the great place to shop, eat and bond. Fast foods, Department stores, Play stores are around the corner.
Great place to buy toys and clothes. I’m a frugal mom; I admit I only buy clothes twice or thrice a year. I value more on saving and investing. I save more on education and business that will feed them for a lifetime.
5. Go home at the province for a Vacation
I will go home to the place where my childhood memories were written. The place where life was difficult but joyful, Life is was simple but full of love.
We will go home for my mom. She’s alone now so our presence will surely lift her spirit. She’s the best mom; she’s my life and my shoulder to cry on. I love you mom and I will forever be grateful.
Our place has a beautiful sunrise. It reminds me to be grateful in every way – more blessing or no blessing – Life itself is a blessing.
